The following is a release from the Howell for Delegate campaign
FALMOUTH, VA – Delegate Bill Howell (R-Stafford) today officially filed paperwork to run for re-election to the Virginia House of Delegates in the 28th District. Howell’s campaign submitted signatures from more than 1,500 qualified voters to the 28th Legislative District Committee, exceeding the 125 signatures House candidates are required to submit in order to be placed on the ballot. Howell was the first candidate to file paperwork and will be listed on the ballot first. Howell issued the following statement on the campaign:
“It’s been an honor to serve the people of Stafford and Fredericksburg in the House of Delegates and I am excited to be running for re-election. Our campaign has gotten off to a fast start. Our campaign headquarters is open, our team has already been reaching out to voters throughout the district and today we submitted signatures from over 1,500 qualified voters. This demonstrates the strength and momentum of our on-the-ground, grassroots team and the support our campaign has received so far.
“With Republicans leading both chambers of the General Assembly, we have just completed a productive and successful legislative session. We adjourned ahead of schedule for the first time in 15 years, adopted a conservative, balanced budget that doesn’t raise taxes and spends $1 billion less from the general fund, rejected Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion, and offered conservative solutions to grow our economy, strengthen our schools and make college more affordable.
“This session is emblematic of how I have sought to serve as Delegate and sought to lead the House. I have fought to keep spending and the size of government under control, stood up for conservative principles time and time again and led the effort to offer positive ideas and solutions on the issues that matter most.
“I am proud of my record, but elections are about the future. I am running for re-election because I know there is more we can accomplish. I look forward to talking to voters across the district about how we can continue to make Virginia’s economy stronger for middle-class families, how we can continue to cut spending and make government more efficient and how Republicans can continue to be the party of ideas.”
