Fimian Calls on Connolly to Denounce Obama's Medicare Pick

Keith Fimian, Republican candidate for Congress (VA-11) called on Congressman Gerry Connolly to denounce President Obama’s recess appointment of Donald Berwick as the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Berwick embraces the idea that only the government will decide who gets what treatments and benefits. Berwick said last June, “The decision is not whether or not we will ration care — the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”

“Does Connolly share Berwick’s support for healthcare and Medicare rationing?” Fimian asked. “Gerry Connolly needs to level with Northern Virginia voters.”

“The recess appointment of a self-proclaimed proponent of healthcare rationing is very troubling. This is an opportunity for Connolly to display his independence and denounce this poor selection,” Fimian said. “People have grave reservations over Gerry Connolly’s government run healthcare law. Those concerns are more than justified and begin to reach a fever pitch among Americans when senior Administration officials start openly embracing rationing.”
