Fimian - Connolly Too Close to Call

Unofficial Election Night returns indicate that the race for Congress in the 11th District is still too close to call. There are still votes that have not been counted, and we have seen from experience with close elections in Virginia in 2005, 2006 and 2008 that candidates’ vote totals can change by hundreds or even thousands of votes in the post-election canvass process. Making matters worse is the fact that two precincts experienced problems with voting machines.

In an election this close, it is important to take the time to get the result right by seeing the counting and canvassing process through.

As of this morning Keith Fimian is still down 479 votes. The Fairfax canvass is underway which includes adding in the tallies from the malfunctioning machines. We should know more later today. Stay tuned.
