Lieutenant
Governor Bill Bolling today announced that his political committee, Friends of
Bill Bolling, received $540,994 in contributions during the most recent
fundraising period. In reports filed with the State Board of Elections,
Bolling also reported receiving 816 individual contributions and finished the
period with $676,766 cash on hand.
Lieutenant
Governor Bolling said, “I’m extremely pleased with the strong financial support
I have received from business leaders, political leaders and activists from all
across Virginia. Their support is a testimony to the success
Governor McDonnell and I have had in tackling the important issues
currently facing our state. In the past 18 months, we have strengthened
the Commonwealth’s financial foundation and turned budget shortfalls into
surpluses. We have focused on creating jobs and growing the economy, and
as a result we have created 67,400 net new jobs and reduced our unemployment
rate from 7.2% to 6%. In addition, we have made historic investments in
transportation and higher education and started the process of reforming state
government to make it work more efficiently and effectively. This is the
type of conservative, results oriented leadership the people of Virginia want and deserve and this is the type of leadership
we will continue to provide.”
Bolling’s
$540,994 in contributions is the most he has raised during any non-election
year fundraising period. With $676,766 in the bank, Bolling more than
doubled his committee’s cash on hand from the previous period. This total
is 35% higher than Bolling’s cash on hand and 83% higher than then-AG Bob McDonnell’s cash on hand at the same point in the 2009 election cycle.
