VA Beach Mayor Sessoms Endorsed by Leading Filipino-American Organization

The following is a release from the Will Sessoms for Mayor Campaign:

"The Filipino American Community Action Group (Fil-Am CAG), a leading Virginia Beach-based Filipino organization, enthusiastically endorsed Will Sessoms and his re-election bid as Mayor of Virginia's most populous city. The Fil-Am CAG's mission is to increase civic, economic growth and political involvement of Filipino Americans in Hampton Roads. Mayor Sessoms has made economic development and relationships within the Virginia Beach community priorities since his first day in office.

In addition to its endorsement, the organization graciously has volunteered to hand out ballot guides to the Filipino community to solidify the group's grassroots campaigning effort throughout Virginia Beach.

"We do everything to get you re-elected and the other candidates that we are endorsing as shown on the ballot guide," a Fil-Am CAG representative wrote recently to Mayor Sessoms.

"I am honored to receive the backing of the Filipino American community in Virginia Beach," said Mayor Sessoms. "They are an integral part of what makes this community tick. I thank them for their support."

Mayor Sessoms is also an honorary member of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, a civic and patriotic organization aimed at spreading the teachings of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines. He was inducted into the Order last year.

Other organizations that have endorsed another term for Mayor Sessoms are: The Virginian-Pilot editorial page, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce (Virginia Beach), the Hampton Roads Realtors Association and the Virginia Beach African American Political Council."
