Memorial Day

The following is a post from former Virginia Governor James Gilmore:

"As we celebrate this Memorial Day weekend, let us remember those brave and heroic Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great country.

As a former Soldier, I believe it's important that we stop to honor every Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, Marine, Reservist and member of the Coast Guard and National Guard took an oath to defend America. For fulfilling this oath with courage, decency and selflessness, and epitomizing our country’s very best qualities through their valiant efforts, we remain forever grateful.

Because of their commitment to freedom, we are able to enjoy the principles of this country as our Founding Father’s intended.

To demonstrate our respect and gratitude for their courage, love of country and dedication to duty, I would invite you to join me in a National Moment of Remembrance this afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

By participating in this thoughtful exercise, we perpetuate the values and the meaning of this important day.

Sending our thoughts and prayers to the families of those who have fallen in defense of freedom remembers both their sacrifice and their incredible pledge to fight for freedom at home and abroad.

I would like to wish you, your family and friends a safe, blessed Memorial Day as we remember that those who wear the uniform deserve our deepest gratitude today and every day."
