Winners and Losers of 2009

Washington Post blogger Anita Kumar has a column today’s Post where she lists the political winners and losers in Virginia politics for 2009. I thought it was interesting that she didn’t include the Post as one of 2009 greatest losers. I can’t think of anyone that had a rougher year. Yes, Creigh Deeds lost the Governors race, but the Post fought hard for him. In fact they endorsed him two times in five months. And in a last ditch effort to save his flailing campaign they kept the story about McDonnell’s college paper alive, when all other Virginia newspapers ignored it.

But bias aside, the Post endorsed a candidate that was soundly defeated by Virginia voters. They endorsed a candidate that was a buffoon, and that has got to hurt their reputation.
