April 2010 Deficit Four Times Higher Than 2009

I must say I thought George W. Bush was a big spender, and he was, but compared to Obama he's a piker. Federal spending under Obama is skyrocketing.

Keith Fimian, Republican candidate for Congress (VA-11) issued the following statement in response to Treasury Department reports that the Federal budget deficit for the month of April 2010 quadrupled to $82 billion:

“Federal spending is completely out of control. Reckless spending is bankrupting our nation and leaving future generations a staggering bill,” Fimian said. “Gerry Connolly and Nancy Pelosi have no intention of stopping this spending madness. They are driving the nation off a cliff to economic ruin at high speed.”

The US government has now run a deficit for 19 straight months, the longest string of monthly deficits on record. For the year, the budget deficit is on track to be $l.5 trillion, surpassing last year’s deficit of $1.4 trillion.

“As bad as their policies are for the economy, at least Connolly and Pelosi have one sorry excuse: they are just career politicians who lack any experience or understanding of how our economy works, how jobs are created, or the conditions necessary for economic growth,” Fimian said. “On spending, they have no excuse. They are bankrupting the country. But instead of cutting government and reigning in spending, they are pouring fuel on the fire with massive new entitlements like the government healthcare takeover and job destroying policies like cap-and-trade.”

“If Gerry Connolly and Nancy Pelosi took a glance at the headlines, they would see the terrible price Americans will have to pay for their policies,” Fimian said. “Unless we replace career politicians like Gerry Connolly, their reckless spending and borrowing will have us facing a fiscal crisis like the one Greece currently faces and other countries in Europe are soon to face."

We need to send people like Keith Fimian to Washington to put an end to reckless Federal spending.
