Some good news for Virginia motorists, it seems that the McDonnell administration plans to increase funds for repaving roads. Earlier in the year the administration conducted an audit of VDOT and found nearly 800 million dollars in unused funds. The extra money will enable VDOT to do more highway maintenance and construction and do it sooner than the department had planned.
According to the Richmond Times Dispatch, Virginia will be able to spend $200 million to $250 million more in repaving projects than originally planned. An increase of 100 percent. The work will begin this spring. My axle feels better already.
