Remember last spring when census workers came to your house to get a head count? Well, the data is in and while Virginia has grown, the growth is not enough to get us another Congressional seat. According to the figures Virginia's population surpassed 8 million residents. The number of residents grew by 922,509, or 13 percent, from the last census. Overall, it looks like the United States' population grew to between 305.7 million and 312.7 million, up from 281.4 million in 2000
