McDonnell's Approval Rating Up, But ABC Privatization Proposal Not So Popular

Well some good news, and some not so good news for Governor Bob McDonnell in a recent Roanoke College Poll, which interview 601 Virginians from Nov. 29 to Dec. 8.  The poll shows McDonnell with a 57 percent approval rating.  Not too shabby.  However, the poll also showed some weakness for the Governor's proposal to privatize the State's liquor stores:

"While opinion is split, a slim majority of respondents would like to see the state get out of the business of selling alcohol. About one-third (33%) think ABC stores should be sold if the Commonwealth can replace the lost revenue, and 18% said that the state simply should not be in the business of selling alcohol. However, a significant plurality (41%) thinks the ABC stores should remain in their current status."
