Romney Obama Debate Round 2

I have a few quick thoughts about tonight's Presidential debate. First, Obama had one advantage, other than Candy Crowley, and that is, since he did so bad on the first debate he actually set a low bar for himself. If all he did was show up with some energy and acted like he cared, he would at least do ok. Well, he did better than that. He was aggressive, and quick to shift from defending his record, to attacking Mitt Romney. I almost thought he was too aggressive. Possibly hurting his image as post partisan, and likable with independents. You can tell he does not like Romney.

I also think Governor Romney had a good night. He attacked Obama on his weak performance on jobs and the economy, and he tried to make sure that none of Obama's charges went unanswered. I think Romney scored with his line, “The middle class is getting crushed by the policies of a president who does not understand what it takes to get the economy working again,” However, I thought he would have hit Obama harder on Libya.

As far as the moderator, for the most part I thought she was her liberal self. Picking the best questions she could for Obama, and giving Obama more time. According to CNN, Obama got 44:04 minutes of speaking time, while Romney got 40:50.

The debate certainly helped Obama with his base, however, I don't think it helped him with independents or undecideds.
