Robert Bork RIP

I was saddened to learn this morning of the passing of Judge Robert Bork. He was a great man, and a great jurist and scholar. One of my earliest political memories, and my introduction to the venality and dishonesty of the political left, was of his supreme court confirmation battle. Sadly, his nomination failed in the Senate. But through it all Bork kept his dignity while the liberals threw mud. In particular Ted Kennedy's speech on the Senate floor denouncing Bork was a disgrace!

I did have the pleasure of meeting Judge Bork. It was at a Leadership Institute event, and in between small talk I over heard Bork and Morton Blackwell debate the merits of Ayn Rand. Bork was no fan of Rand or her philosophy, but Morton insisted that reading Rand kept people away from socialism.

Judge Bork rest in peace.
