I listened to Northern Virginia Congressman Gerry Connolly the other day on WTOP comment on suggestions, well, specifically Governor McDonnell's suggestion that perhaps there should be an armed faculty member at every school.
Connolly claimed that such an idea would violate the law. I assume he is referring to "Gun Free" Zone laws. I wonder if Connolly has any evidence that Gun Free Zone laws have ever stopped a shooting?
He also asserted his view that an armed faculty member would only encourage a shootout, and therefore more shootings. However, at every such tragedy the shooter avoids a shootout. Rather, he kills himself as soon as he hears the police arrive.
