House Holding Firm

Governor McAuliffe thought that the very threat of a government shutdown would force the Republicans to give in and expand Medicaid. But so far that strategy looks like a mistake.

A friend of mine in the House of Delegates says they are holding firm on the budget.

“Yes, everyone is still solid. I believe the other side is going to cave on separating the budget from the Medicaid debate, and then we can delay or put off that discussion until we have true reforms.

In addition, I really do believe that local governments will force them to move the budget forward, and not be held hostage to the Medicaid expansion debate.”

Let's hope the GOP stays strong.
