National Republicans Back Griffith in The 9th

In addition to the 5th, the 2nd, and the 11th, the NRCC believes that there is a good chance of picking up another seat held by the Dems. The NRCC has its sights set on Virginia's 9th district, where current incumbent Rick Boucher(D-9th) may be vulnerable.

From today's Roanoke Times:

National Republicans continue to line up support behind state Del. Morgan Griffith of Salem as they try to find a way to knock off U.S. Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon, who has pushed away challenge after challenge over the years.

Today, Griffith will be named as a "Young Gun" by the National Republican Congressional Committee -- meaning he's advanced to the top tier of a candidate-development program that was co-founded by U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Henrico County.

"What this means is that we feel Morgan is on track to beating Rick Boucher," said Andy Sere, spokesman for the NRCC.

I have always thought Boucher could be beaten with a good candidate.
